For several years, marvel has been holding editorial retreats. Mirroring the collaborative approach that has taken over the film world, about 50 writers get together in one room and collaborate on developing Marvel’s comic book storylines for the next few years. Extremely confidential, these retreats are held twice a year. For the most recent one, a reporter from the Daily News was invited under strict warning of what could and could not be spoiled, and when.
According to the Daily News article, a major superhero will die in Civil War II. To pique our interest even more, this superhero will be killed by another superhero, and it will not be an accidental death. The new storyline starts like this:
A mysterious new Marvel character comes to the attention of the world, one who has the power to calculate the outcome of future events with a high degree of accuracy,” according to the synopsis. “This predictive power divides the Marvel heroes on how best to capitalize on this aggregated information, with Captain Marvel leading the charge to profile future crimes and attacks before they occur, and Iron Man adopting the position that the punishment cannot come before the crime.
Eventually, the seer will predict that one of the superheroes will be the cause of a major incident of destruction in three days. This forces the other heroes to make a tough call.
